It Has Been A While
My faith has been strong, but my body has been weak and my soul has ached… for far too long. I don’t feel like going into any details at the moment, but I’m grateful to say that my writer’s strike … Continue reading

The choice is ours, it always has been.
Our freedom or captivity, depression or joy, has nothing to do with the outside circumstances surrounding our life. But they have everything to do with the condition of our heart, soul, mind, body, and spirit. Continue reading

Can Christians Be Depressed Part II – An Honest Look Inside Pandora’s Box
It’s all about the onion layers…
It’s like we need to wade through the however many years of carnality and misconceptions we came to believe about ourselves, others, and God before we can see the real Imago Dei in each of us. Continue reading

Fear The Hardened Heart
So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. SOAP: Day Eleven – Free Indeed
I don’t think I’m alone in saying that once the newness of relationship with Christ wears down (and ideally that should never happen!) then the old emotional baggage of traumas, negative thinking patterns, fears, and resentments seem to bubble back up from someplace long dead and buried. SOAP: Day Four – BEHOLD!
There seems to be some relational psychology involved, for when you trust and love your Father, a good smack-down is welcomed because you know that He only provides insight into the things that will improve your life. Continue reading

Soap: Day Two – Unfailing Love and Faithfulness
Jesus is God and lived among us – this is truly beyond human comprehension. How can anyone truly believe that to be true? Do I? The very foundation of Step Two of 12-step recovery work is “Came to believe that a power greater than myself could restore me to sanity.” Continue reading

But Overcome What
“My parents never called me stupid, why do we do that?” (side note: if you aren’t prepared to get a profoundly probing response, never ask a life coach why we do stuff) Continue reading

Do You Give Your Freedom Away?
We know that Christ purchased our freedom, but yet so often we don’t “feel” or “act” free. We can feel trapped by our circumstances or miserable in one or more of our relationships. But so often, it is us who … Continue reading
